The US Department of Homeland Security has awarded a contract worth nearly $140 million to Daedalus Aviation for the acquisition of six Boeing 737 aircraft to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation flights.
The move will allow DHS to operate an in-house fleet rather than relying solely on charter providers. Officials say the dedicated aircraft will improve efficiency and reduce long-term costs, following significant increases in funding for border and immigration enforcement.
The new fleet is expected to handle international removals and internal transfers, expanding the agency’s operational capacity.
